R. David Jenkins
R. David Jenkins passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at home in Sugar Hill, Georgia. He was a native of Johnson City, Tennessee and son of the late Robert Odell and Pauline Conner Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of Science Hill High School, where he played football and was an all-state track athlete and Hall of Fame inductee. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from ETSU. He was an avid Vols fan. He enjoyed politics and was an active member to his party for many years. He enjoyed a lively political debate. He also enjoyed playing golf. He worked at Pet Dairy, Metals Engineering, was a self-proclaimed Entrepreneur and retired from British Petroleum(BP). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William (Bill) Jenkins and two sisters, Roberta Slagle and Jemima Milhorn. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years Nancy Miller Jenkins. He had four daughters Pam Jenkins, Deborah Fajardo, Sally Dickson and her husband Dan, and Elizabeth Sahlin, and one son, David and his wife Lisa. Special Papa to his grandchildren, Jason Fajardo and his wife Merritt, Keena McKenzie, Catherine Bayer and her husband Chris, Michael Risch, David Jenkins and his wife Ashley, Brooke Dickson, Morgan Dickson, Taylor Dickson, Maggie Dickson and Matthew Sahlin. His great grandchildren, Hadley, Lily, and Emme Fajardo, Brody Risch, Kinsley and Cameron Bayer, Hunter McKenzie, and Mack Jenkins. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. Services will be planned at a later date.
