Q&A: Broadway bridge breakdown — and why an 8-week shutdown isn’t that bad

Beginning July 5, one of downtown Nashville’s major thoroughfares will close down for eight weeks. The existing Broadway bridge, built in 1948 and spanning 11th Avenue and a CSX railroad, is nearing the end of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. Construction began in fall 2022 and is projected to be complete in October.
