Patricia (Patty) Street

Sept. 16, 1937- Nov. 9, 2019 Genesis 49:33 says, “When Jacob finished blessing his sons, he drew his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people.” On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Patty was “gathered to her people.” Not only was there a peaceful end to her earthly life, but a sweeter fact that she will know and recognize “her people.” This will include, among others, her Mom and Dad (Hodge and Eva Nell Greer,) Mamaw and Grandaddy Greer and Jobe, her husband Harry, her sister Jean, and her much adored brother, Jack. She is survived by four sons whom she loved dearly: Steve, Brian, Scott, and Patrick (Holly.); two “daughters” Bunny Street and Myra Isenberg; sister Gayle Driggers (Ralph), 2 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Patty embraced her lifetime roles of wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, nurse, consummate storyteller, and friend. She and Harry enjoyed a full simple life, married over 56 years. Their retirement years were highlighted with special memories at her beloved “Patty Shack” in Roan Mountain. Patty cherished her lifelong friendships with Loretta and Doris Ann, friends since they were 6 years old. The family would like to express the deepest gratitude to the staff and residents of Governor’s Bend Retirement Home who became her adopted family. In addition, special thanks to Ballad Health Hospice for their compassionate care. A Home-going celebration will take place at 2:00pm Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Noah Taylor, officiating. A committal graveside service will follow the service in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm, prior to the service. Flowers are welcomed, but in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your local Animal Shelter or the Dawn of Hope Foundation, PO Box 30 Johnson City, TN 37605. Patty loved her Lord, her Harry, her “boys,” her family, friends, and her mountains. Patty will be missed by all who knew her.
