Myrle Roberts Laughren
ERWIN – Myrle Roberts Laughren, age 85, Erwin, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Christian Care Center of Unicoi County. She is a daughter of the late John and Dora Buchanan Roberts. Mrs. Laughren was a native of Unicoi County before moving to Mitchell County, NC in 1972 then, she returned to Erwin in 2002. She was a member of Buffalo Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Laughren was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Laughren mothered everyone. She had quite the green thumb and raised an abundant garden. Also, Mrs. Laughren grew beautiful flowers. She enjoyed canning, word searches, puzzles and coloring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Brad Laughren; infant daughter, Linda Laughren; one grandson, Art Gregory Morton, Jr; one great grandson, Michael Morton; two brothers: George and Ralph Roberts; six sisters: Inis Yarbor, Mary Bennett, Joy Osburn, Martha Laughren, Lois Reeser and Olean Roberts; son-in-law, Art Morton, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-seven years, Carl Laughren, Erwin; one son, Frank Laughren (Doris), Tipton Hill, NC; three daughters: Mary Ann Buchanan (Dean), Tipton Hill, NC, Betty Ann Yarbor (Hubert), Unicoi, Marie Morton, Elizabethton; one sister, Frances Horton, Unicoi; daughter-in-law, Dana Laughren, Erwin; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Craig Shelton and Pastor Bobby Miller will officiate at the 7:00 PM funeral service. Committal will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday in the Buchanan Cemetery, Limestone Cove Community. Pallbearers will be Brian Laughren, Michael Linville, James Laughren, Rodney Simmons, Randy Nickles and Mark Depew. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Osborne and Adam Yarbor. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
