Long time Nashville residents can no longer afford to live here
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Long time Nashvillians are concerned because they can no longer afford to live here since the new buildings are selling for double the price.
Jessica Williams bought her home in West Nashville for $212,000 in October of 2020.
Williams loves her neighborhood, but she says it’s completely transformed in just two years.
“When I first purchased my home there was only one new construction behind me in that time frame I think it’s been almost 17, 18 homes that have come out of the ground and fully closed,” Williams said.
She says her home is now worth about $415,000.
Williams says her neighbors who have been here for decades can’t afford to live here anymore.
“You continuously see new homes being boarded up over and over again and you see peoples’ sofas and couches, toys, diapers just in the streets,” Williams explained.
