General Motors and UAW bargain a new contract, ending strike that just reached Spring Hill

    The four-decade-old GM plant in Spring Hill has become its own economic engine and a pillar of the state’s manufacturing industry, the first of what today are four automakers operating or building factories in Tennessee. The plant plays a notable role in GM’s future, as the nearly 4,000 GM workers in Spring Hill are making the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq SUV alongside gas-powered vehicles and engines that are shipped to other GM plants.
