Fast-growing fintech firm to be first tenant in new Wedgewood-Houston office building

A fast-growing financial technology company is moving to Wedgewood-Houston. The firm is the first tenant revealed for the newest development in the hot neighborhood.

East Tennessee-based Thread Bank signed a lease to be the anchor tenant in a new office building dubbed The Pitch, according to a permit filed with Metro.

Thread Bank is the first tenant revealed for the Wedgewood-Houston building, located at 1621 Ensley Blvd., which just completed construction. Nashville-based Division Street Development, headed by Lee Zoller, led the project.

“We’re super excited to have Thread Bank as our anchor tenant in the Wedgwood-Houston and Chestnut Hill markets,” Zoller told the Business Journal.

Thread Bank, led by Chris Black, is a financial technology supported community bank headquartered in Rogersville, Tennessee.

Formerly known as Civis Bank, the company was recapitalized in 2021 and has secured multiple fintech partnerships, leading to its growth from $100 million to $720 million in deposits from 2020 to the first quarter of this year, according to PYMNTS.

The company’s new office will take over the entire third floor of the building which spans 20,663 square feet, according to marketing materials. The construction cost for the new office is valued at $1.8 million, according to the permit.

Thread Bank currently has offices in Rogersville, Sneedville and Brentwood. The company is leaving its Brentwood office for the new Wedgewood-Houston space.
