Emma Haire Smith

August 18, 1926-July 29, 2019 Emma Louise Haire Smith was born in Jonesboro, TN, daughter of Flora Sherfey Haire and Courtney Cox Haire. She graduated from Jonesboro High School, and completed a secretarial course from the Community College. Her first job was to support the war effort by working in Washington, DC. This led to other jobs in the area, and she spent most of her adult life there until she retired to Virginia Beach in 2012. She is survived by her sister, Avis Haire Colbert, residing in Alpharetta, GA, and by two nieces and a nephew, Ann Colbert Lockler (John), Dawn Colbert Cimperman (Ralph), and Scott Colbert (Anne). She was 92, and enjoyed a good, independent, well-lived life. She had a good sense of humor, and she will be missed.
