Charlcie Lee Turner
Charlcie Lee Turner, 72, passed away on the morning of March 5th. She went peacefully sleeping in her forested home of over thirty years, surrounded by trees and early signs of spring. The youngest child of Clarence Albert Hord and Nelle Billings Hord, Charlcie was born and raised in Johnson City alongside her brother and sister. She attended Science Hill High School and ETSU before completing her Masters degree in audiology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Upon graduation she returned to her hometown and spent her career as an audiologist, caring with dedication for the hearing of patients at the Veteran’s Administration. Charlcie also taught as an adjunct professor at ETSU, sharing her knowledge and experience with those who also sought to care for others. She was tirelessly dedicated to her only son, Chip, raising him alone until he left the nest to follow in her footsteps to Vanderbilt. She was a fiercely loving mother, a loyal daughter and sister, and a true and deep friend. She developed an avid appreciation of NASCAR, enjoying the excitement of races in person whenever possible. She spent her final years in retirement in the home she loved so much, deep in the wooded hills above her hometown. Preceded by the passing of her father, Clarence, her mother, Nelle, and her brother, Tom, Charlcie is mourned by her sister Faye. She will be deeply, deeply missed by her only son, Chip, his wife, Darian, and their daughter, Alexandra. We love you, Mom, and will miss you every day. Charlcie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony alongside her beloved father and mother at Monte Vista in Johnson City.
