Chamber CEO on mayor’s transit push: ‘The appetite is strong. But this time around, our role will be different.’
The chamber led the charge for transit in 2018, the last time the city voted on a referendum. The group built on four years of in-house research stemming from its Moving Forward initiative to forge a Transit for Nashville political campaign, hiring consultants and raising $ 3.1 million. Mayor Freddie O’Connell has called for a November transit referendum, and chamber CEO Ralph Schulz is letting CEOs know that he will soon ask them to donate to a pro-transit push. But he expects the chamber to be less visible this time.
