Bistro Pastis to open a restaurant in Nashville
Bistro Pastis is known for serving traditional French fare.
The restaurant is expected to open in 2023 a few blocks south of downtown in Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. Pastis will be part of the renovated May Hosiery building on Houston Street. The building was once a sock mill, the oldest in the South. It will be next to Soho House Nashville which opened earlier this year.
Their classic menu may include classics like steak tartare, snails with garlic butter, trout amandine, filet au Poivre, grilled branzino, lobster frites, Duck à l’Orange, and moules frites. Hors D’oeuvres may include oysters, Tuna Crudo, Oeufs Mimosa, and Sardines en Conserve.
The restaurant will be decorated in “signature Pastis décor,” which is gold lighting, a curved zinc bar, subway tile, leather banquettes, vintage mirrors, and Parisian bistro chairs. Factory-style windows that fit the 1897 May Hosiery Mills aesthetic will overlook the neighborhood. The design of the Nashville restaurant will be similar to the NYC location.
In New York City, Pastis is famous for being the go-to French fare in the Meatpacking district. Many celebrities frequent the famous restaurant.
Nashville in recent years has become a magnet for blockbuster restaurants in other major US cities. These include Dallas-based Velvet Taco and Carne Mare and Dutch both from New York City. In May, Soho House Nashville also opened in the May Hosiery building.
A press release announced the plans for Pastis. It will be part of a dystopian-sounding “multiphase neighborhood restoration and development project.” Restaurateurs Keith McNally and Stephen Starr have partnered with Nashville-based developer Adventurous Journeys in the development.
