Marilyn Carriger

ELIZABETHTON – Marilyn Carriger, age 65, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Marilyn was born in Elizabethton to the late Thomas McDonald Carriger and Cathryn Frost Carriger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Frost Carriger; her paternal grandparents, Tom V. and Pearl Carriger; and her maternal grandparents, Dr. W.G. and Elsie Frost. Marilyn had worked at the Dawn of Hope for several years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, class of 1974 and attended Adult Day Service. Marilyn loved Elvis and loved to go to the beach. She also enjoyed watching movies and collecting movies. Her favorite saying was “Period, Paragraph, Quote.” Marilyn enjoyed being a part of the Sycamore Shoals re-enactments and making trips to Cherokee. Those left to cherish her memory include a sister, Diane Miller and husband Gary, of Jonesborough, TN; an aunt, Peggy Jo Carriger, of Elizabethton; her caregiver and second family, Robbin Gibson, of the home; and her special friends, Gayla Combs, Colby Blevins, Doug Gibson and Jeff Blevins. Several cousins also survive. Friends may call at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home and Cremation Services from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 to sign the guest register book or at the residence at other times. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Marilyn Carriger will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Gibson, Colby Blevins, Hunter Moody, Jeff Blevins and Gary Miller. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:50 PM on Tuesday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the local food bank of your choice.
